Compliance Corner – July 2019 Article

Social Media Claims

Lately the Compliance Department has seen an increase of inappropriate product claims on Facebook and other social media platforms. In this issue of Compliance Corner, we would like to remind distributors about what you can and cannot post.

For Example – What you cannot post: “My mom stopped taking prescriptions for her MS after three months on Protandim,” or “My hair is healthier than ever after using the hair care products,” or “These hair care products have really improved my thinning hair,” or “Look at my 22-year-old horse move after using Petandim” (Petandim is NOT intended for use with horses), or “The little yellow pill cured my cancer.”

You cannot make any claim that any LifeVantage product can be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, sickness, physical ailment or abnormality. WARNING: Posting a disclaimer DOES NOT fix an inappropriate claim.

For Example – What you can post: “Our products help you maintain an existing, healthy state,” or “I feel more energized,” or “I’ve never felt better,” or “Helps support cardiovascular health,” or “The True Science hair care products have made my hair more manageable, and it looks thicker, healthier, shinier…”

Our supplements are meant to help support, maintain, and promote good health. If you want more information on structure claims, read the FDA’s Structure Function Claims; Small Entity Compliance Guide at:

Our VP of Compliance, Eric Marchant, recently completed a Compliance Training Module titled “Tell Your Story” wherein he gives specific CAN say and CANNOT say claims education. We encourage each distributor to take the time to review this video.

You can access the Compliance Training Module by following the instructions below:

  • Log into your account
  • Go to the Back Office
  • Library/Compliance/Tell Your Story Training (9 minutes)
  • Print out Certificate and sign it (retain for your records)
  • Follow link to questionnaire to be placed in a drawing for prizes and to log your compliance attendance

If at any time you should have questions concerning what you can or cannot say on your social media platforms or how to be compliant with your posts, please contact the Compliance Department directly at compliance@lifevantage.com or the Legal Department at 801-432-9148.
